Mosquito West Nile Virus Threat for Nassau County

For anyone that’s going to be in the Nassau County, Long Island area, there is a health warning for an increasing West Nile Virus threat in Nassau County.

NYC and Long Island residents are urged by the state to protect themselves from mosquito bites.  This was done when the state issued a public health declaration for the West Nile Virus threat warning.

According to Nassau County officials, 18 new pools of mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile Virus in Nassau County.

Officials say 48 mosquito pools in total have tested positive for the West Nile Virus in Nassau County compared to the 20 sites at this date in 2008.

Suffolk has 38 infected pools and New York City has 127, according to the state Health Department.

It is important to take this West Nile Virus threat warning in Nassau County seriously, and take precautionary measures.
