This morning, July 14, 2010, there was a Pennsylvania steel plant explosion blast. More details on this PA steel plant explosion as they come in.

The plant is about 20 miles south of Pittsburgh. Crews are responding to an explosion at a U.S. Steel plant near Pittsburgh where an explosion killed a maintenance worker in September 2009.

Aerial television video showed smoke rising from the sprawling plant and the area swarming with emergency workers.

KDKA-TV quotes emergency dispatchers as saying some workers suffered minor to moderate injuries in the blast just before 10 a.m. Wednesday at the United States Steel Corp.’s Clairton Coke Works.

A company spokeswoman says she can’t immediately confirm the news. An official with the United Steelworkers says the union is looking into the report.
